About the Project

FPR Muswellbrook Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of FPR Energy, is developing a 4.99 MW concentrated solar thermal (CST) demonstration facility northeast of Muswellbrook.

Using FPR Energy's particle-based CST technology, the project will store solar heat in ceramic particles to generate electricity when needed, supplying clean power to the national grid. The facility will feature ~7,600 heliostats, a 110 meter solar tower with 16-hour thermal storage, and supporting infrastructure.

Environmental and social studies are underway as part of the planning approvals process, with community feedback invited during this phase.
